I'm Emily & this is my personal inspiration blog. I'm an English teacher living in Cincinnati, Ohio. Chalk it up!

I’ve been wanting a cute vintage chalkboard to put in my kitchen for a while now. I could write sweet messages on it to the boy or things I need to get from the grocery store or little “to do” reminders; the possibilities are endless! Naturally, the first place I decided to look was the ever-faithful Etsy.

After browsing for a bit, I stumbled upon Mary Kate McDevitt’s Etsy shop & let out a gasp of delight. It’s exactly what I’ve been in the market for! My only problem? Choosing my favorite, of course!

Ruffles make the world a better place.

I am such a sucker for clothing with ruffles & Etsy seller Lirola does them so well! I want them all.

Little Doodles by Kate Wilson

{found via brightlywound}

Kate Wilson’s Little Doodles are unbelievably charming!
I simply cannot get enough of her adorable little birds with their over-the-top personalities.
Visit Kate’s Etsy as well as her portfolio website for more.

A couple lovely things I’ve bought recently.

I know things have been quiet here lately. So, here are two lovely items I’ve bought
on Etsy lately that I’m completely in love with! That will have to tide you over for now.

{Bag by TippiThai / Calendar by Letter C Design}

Darling ruffle bag by Sweetgum.

The buttons! The ruffles! I’m tempted. Oh so tempted. What say you?

New prints by Catherine Campbell.

These new prints by Catherine Campell of My Folk Lover are so delightful it makes my heart ache just a little.
Yes, I realize that’s a touch melodramatic, but how much closer to perfection could these be?

Love the Alice in Wonderland theme she’s got going on.
You can see all the other new prints for sale on her Etsy or on her blog.

The most wonderful (shopping) time of the year

Here are a few gems that caught my eye this year:

This messenger bag by Moop. Except I want it in gray. I just think this picture shows it off the best.

Plank Woodgrain Ring. There’s also an owl one that I like, but I am trying to avoid buying anymore owl-related items for the time being before I begin developing a reputation.

This lovely cardigan from Anthropologie. Love the slouchy pockets!

A pair of gray Toms! I’ve been wanting some for a while now.

Do you detect a color palette preference of mine? I am just a gray kind of girl, I suppose. I hope that doesn’t say anything about my personality! Now, it’s your turn. What do you want for Christmas this year? Let’s keep it strictly materialistic. None of that “world peace” mumbo-jumbo. (I kid. But, seriously.)

El Corazon by Elsita

I was recently introduced to the amazing papercutting artist Elsa Mora on Ambika’s blog. I was shocked & slightly embarrassed that it took me so long to discover her! What a gem! I especially adore this piece entitled “El Corazon (Heart)”. Elsa seems to explain the sentiments behind this piece quite eloquently on her blog:

… The journey starts in our heart. If your heart has been broken once or twice or many times just pick up your instrument and don’t give up making your own music because remember:  ”The heart is the only broken instrument that works” :)

Love her words, love this piece & everything that it represents. See more of Elsa’s work on her papercutting blog & be sure to visit her Etsy for much more papercutting goodness.

Whimsical jewelry by White Owl

I am loving the jewelry by White Owl. It’s so perfectly whimsical & girly without being too over-the-top. Besides, I’m a sucker for anything that uses lace & White Owl uses it to perfection! Check out their Etsy shop for more delightful creations.
