I'm Emily & this is my personal inspiration blog. I'm an English teacher living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I like owls, patterns, typography, thrift shops, writing on post-its, making lists (that never get completed), reading in bed, taking pictures of my cat Atlas, & living my life as fully as possible on a daily basis. Oh dear, I really ought to do something.

Have you seen this poster already? Probably. I simple had to post i though,  because this is the story of my life, people. The story. Of. My life.

Inspiring Quotes: “I hear my bones” by Jonathan Safran Foer

A couple lovely things I’ve bought recently.

I know things have been quiet here lately. So, here are two lovely items I’ve bought
on Etsy lately that I’m completely in love with! That will have to tide you over for now.

Inspiring Quotes: “Hope is the thing with feathers”

{via Ben Javins}

***
“Hope”, by Emily Dickinson

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune–without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

This is my absolute favorite poem by Emily Dickinson. Especially that first line. To me, it’s perfection.

Inspiring Quotes: “Be Famous” by Chuck Palahniuk

As a lover of words, I am going to begin posting a “visual representation” of some of my favorite quotes. Bare with me as my Photoshop skills are rather amateur. But, I hope the words can speak for themselves! The first being by one of my all-time favorite authors Chuck Palahniuk. This quote is from the book Invisible Monsters which I highly suggest you read if you haven’t already.

Alphabet Dinnerware by Fishs Eddy

This Alphabet dinnerware from Fishs Eddy is simply beautiful.
Better yet, it appears to be on sale right now- half off even!
I am very, very tempted to buy myself the “E” and the “A” mugs.
My birthday is next week, after all. We could call it an early birthday present!

A little dose of (random) inspiration.

It’s finals week for me which is why I have been virtually non-existent. Once Friday comes, I will have an entire week to catch up & de-stress! In the meantime, here’s a handful of inspiring links to look at:

The Mesmerizing Curves of Ampersands – If you don’t already know, I love ampersands! This is a lovely collection of some of the loveliest ampersands. Definitely worth a look-see.

Beautiful set of photographs from Vanity Fair – I came across these on PhotoDecadent. So fun & whimsical & makes my heart smile!

Beklina: A delightful green botique -I’ve fallen head-over-heels in love with their clothing.

“When Spring is Still a Dream” photograph by StevensonMarie – I need more of this in my life right now. I can’t wait for spring!

Hope that will tide you over for a bit! Enjoy!

A Human Being Before Anything Else

I have loved Frank Chimero‘s illustrations for a while now. However, it wasn’t until recently that I discovered he has a shop with very reasonably priced posters ($20!) of his work. There are so many lovely posters to choose from! You should most definitely check them all out if you haven’t already. He knows what’s up.
