Alphabet Dinnerware by Fishs Eddy

This Alphabet dinnerware from Fishs Eddy is simply beautiful.
Better yet, it appears to be on sale right now- half off even!
I am very, very tempted to buy myself the “E” and the “A” mugs.
My birthday is next week, after all. We could call it an early birthday present!

Fun & functional ceramics by Circa Ceramics.

Beautiful, fun & completely functional ceramics by Etsy seller Circa Ceramics.
I absolutely love all the shapes, colors & graphics there are to choose from.
My favorites are the knitty bowl & the turn table cup. I want them. Like, really want them.
There is even an option to get a vase personalized with your choice of color & graphic.

Austin, TX: Finch

Austin, TX: Finch

Another fabulous shop that I have visited while in Austin is Finch. It has a wonderful selection of handmade products by independent artists; from paper goods, to ceramics, accessories, & housewares. The store itself is quite breathtaking–with every little thing just perfectly placed. It was so lovely, in fact, that I am thinking of making another visit before I leave!

If you are not able to visit Finch in person, you can also check out their wonderful array of products available on their website. I especially love these darling Xenia Taler Tiles. I may stop by & pick up the little red & pink bird before I return to Cincinnati on Wednesday.

“What is real?” asked the Rabbit one day.

Gorgeous handmade porcelain rabbit mug from Etsy shop, Paticake. It reminds me of one of my all-time favorite children’s books, The Velveteen Rabbit. This is my favorite part of the story:

“What is real?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

Paticake has a lot of other gorgeous ceramics in her shop, as well. I have been eyeing these adorable cupcake salt & pepper shakers for a little bit. Also loving this charming record player mug.

Brighton University Graphic Design Graduates

I am unbelievably inspired by the works of the recent graduates at Brighton University. They have a wonderful online degree show in which you can look at all the 2008 graduate’s portfolios. So much amazing work. Definitely worth looking at.
