Cute & comfy flats for summer.

When it comes to summer shoes, I am on the look-out for a comfortable pair that is light-weight & lets my feet breathe. They should be cute, able to be worn with both skirts & jeans, & something that I can walk around comfortably in all day. Although my stipulations might sound difficult to meet, I think that the pairs pictured above should stand up to the challenge quite nicely!

{Product Information:}
1. White leather shoes engraved in green by Camper: $155.00
2. Gray Mary Jane by Camper: $75.00
3. Keen Sienna Mary Jane in Mineral Blue: $86.00

Brighton University Graphic Design Graduates

I am unbelievably inspired by the works of the recent graduates at Brighton University. They have a wonderful online degree show in which you can look at all the 2008 graduate’s portfolios. So much amazing work. Definitely worth looking at.

I am endlessly inspired.

I have been rather absent lately and for that I do apologize. My classes are slowly winding down for the quarter; so, that means I have tons of projects & loose ends to tie up. But, that doesn’t mean I should neglect my blog entirely! I’ve decided to compile a list of images & posts that I have found particularly inspiring/ interesting this week. I hope that you will read them & take away as much from them as I did:

NubbyTwiglet’s latest post about planning and assembling a print portfolio is very interesting. Although I am not a designer myself, I think it is very useful information that I plan on passing along to a few friends.

The illustrations on KrisAtomic’s blog are so adorable! Since she can’t afford all of the lovely clothes that she is currently lusting after, she had created cute little “fantasy oufit” drawings of them. Too precious!

Apparently Oprah Winfrey is undergoing a 21-Day Cleanse, in which she has eliminated caffeine, sugar, alcohol, gluten and animal products her diet for to 21 days. I’m not a huge Oprah fan, but this does intrigue me. You can read about her process & how she is feeling each day on her blog.

I am completely inspired by this photograph of Mia via Hel Looks. Among other things, she says she is “inspired by books by David Shrigley” which automatically makes her a-okay in my book! I want to try this look sometime; so simple, yet so incredibly adorable.

I am absolutely in love with this old, black & white photograph of my grandfather feeding my mother. He passed away in 2000, so every time I look at this picture I feel somewhat melancholy; but, mostly I feel so happy to have gotten the chance to know (& be related to) such an amazing person!

If you haven’t already, you should go download Design for Mankind’s latest Inspiration e-zine. It’s free & unbelievably inspiring!

{Blue Feather Vintage Necklace: $16.00}

I came across this lovely Vintage Blue Feather necklace over at  Day-Lab this morning. Day-Lab always has an excellent selection of vintage jewelry; probably the best source that I’ve seen.  I’ve had my eye out for a  simple blue necklace for a while now & I think this is just the thing I was looking for!

Smosch it up, baby!

I have actually written about one of Etsy seller Smosch‘s softies before, but it looks as though the shop has been replenished with all sorts of cute little creatures that are simply begging to bought & loved forever. Just look at their sweet little faces! These delightful characters are the brainchild of Sandra Juto, an enormously talented illustrator & graphic designer living & working in Gothenburg, Sweden. Take a look at her amazing illustration portfolio to see for yourself.

For more from Sandra Juto, you can check out her inspiring blog, Smosch.com.
Also, be sure to visit her Etsy shop to get one of her softies before they are all snatched up!

Lovely ceramics by Hanna Melin

I’m loving these beautiful & playful ceramics by Swedish artist Hanna Melin. If you would like purchasing or pricing information, you can find contact information here.

Use your library

I found this poster after discovering the poster shop Advice to Sink in Slowly on the lovely blog Design for Mankind. It is so terribly charming & true! As an avid library patron, I am pretty sure I am going to have to snag this up. I love the illustration by Rebecca Cobb. And, at only £5.00 it won’t completely break the bank!

Polaroid Project: I need your help!

{photos by myself: fruit stand in Florence, Italy & another polaroid from Italy.}

Alright, so I just came upon a bunch of free polaroid film. I volunteered to help at an event & they bought way too much film. I asked them what they were planning on doing with the rest of the film & if I could perhaps buy some from them at some sort of discount. Instead, they handed me two rather large cardboard boxes full of film & said, “Here, take it. There’s more where that came from. Thanks for the help!” I didn’t ask questions. I just clutched those boxes to my heart for dear life & tried to keep myself from squealing & jumping up & down.

So, now. I want to do something really neat with the film! I want to make some sort of project. I was thinking of simply creating a website where I take a polaroid a day; but, that seems like it must have been done before now. That being said, I need your help! Do any of you have any ideas? Would anyone be interested in helping me create some sort of awesome polaroid project? I am completely open-minded. I just want to think outside of the box right now! Any comments/advice as to what I could do would be so very appreciated! I feel like, since this film seriously just fell into my lap, I want to make the absolute best of it! Thanks so much!

I want this dress!

I hope this qualifies as an adequate post. It’s short, but I just felt that I needed to share this adorable dress from Built By Wendy with you. Perhaps I’ve mentioned before the fact that I don’t wear dresses very often. Well, it’s because I don’t own this dress. I am pretty sure if I did, I would run around in it all day, every day. What do you think? Should I splurge? Is it unique enough to spend $107 on? Or, should I shop around for a more pocketbook friendly version?
