I'm Emily & this is my personal inspiration blog. I'm an English teacher living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I like owls, patterns, typography, thrift shops, writing on post-its, making lists (that never get completed), reading in bed, taking pictures of my cat Atlas, & living my life as fully as possible on a daily basis. Adorable ink drawings by Mar Hernández

These little drawings by Mar Hernández are making me a very happy girl tonight. I am loving the expression on the little bun’s face. So darling & serene! See more of Hernández’s amazing work here.

P.S. Just a heads up:  I am in the process of re-designing the blog. So, if things are a bit wonky around here for the next couple of day, just bare with me! Thank you so very much.

Today I love: Girls with nerdy glasses.

Today, I am crushing on these amazing nerdy fanshionistas. I am actually in the market for a pair of new frames & they are just the sort of inspiration I needed to try something a bit more “nerdy chic”. I especially am in love with the girl’s glasses in the bottom right-hand corner (see bigger original image). Does anyone out there have any idea where I can snag a pair similar to that?

I think girls that wear these sort of glasses are fabulous! They exude a sort of self-confidence that is just very attractive to me. What do you think?

Flickr Favorites: Corners of my home

Right now, I am feeling incredibly inspired by the Flickr group Corners of my Home. So many lovely little corners!

Wall decals from Etsy

{Telephone pole and flying birds by Decorette: $75.00}

In response to my bedroom post, a reader (Hi, Rachel!) suggested that I look into filling my empty walls with some fun decals. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought about this before now. It’s pretty much the perfect solution for renters such as myself who aren’t allowed to do anything drastic and/or permanent to their places. I guess I always thought that decals were too expensive for my budget; but, once I began perusing the wonderful world of Etsy, I found that this is certainly not always the case. Here are a few of my favorites:

{Clockwise from top-left:}
1. Antique frame vinyl decals by Elephannie: $90.00
2. ShaNickers Wall Decal/Sticker-Tree in Wind by Shanon1972: $69.00
3. Birds in Birdcage Grouping Vinyl Wall Decals by Single Stone Studios: $48.00
4. Curve Wall Graphics by Michelle Christina:$40.00

Living room.

Living room

I realize I’ve been a bad little blogger lately. I have no excuse other than the fact that I am just feeling extremely unmotivated/uninspired. However, I did finally get around to taking some photographs of my living room. As with all the other places in my apartment, it is a work in progress. I still need some things for the walls. This is where I lack majorly. I am also sorry for the somewhat blurry photograph. Dusk is not the best time to take pictures for my unsteady hands.

Built-in shelf.

I like all the plants I have in my new place. I think they have a nice way of adding warmth & life to what would otherwise be a stagnant room. I have another Ashley G print waiting anxiously to be framed and hung above the built-in shelf.

I don’t know if you can tell, but the color of my walls is a lovely shade of green. I am looking for a few more prints/art/etc. to hang that will compliment this color. As always, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Technical difficulties

So, I am starting to think that technology & myself will never be friends. I accidentally deleted tons of my comments by marking them as spam. Now, all my comments are automatically going into my spam folder & I don’t know how to stop it! So, if you have commented on here in the past month, I apologize! It seems all your lovely feedback has disappeared. :(

Hopefully I have it all figured out now. I think I have. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what was going on in my little world! Regular posting will resume shortly!

Artist Irana Douer

This is probably not the first time you’ve seen Irana Douer‘s artwork nor will it probably be the last, but I only just discovered her & I must say that she is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorites. Every single piece truly blows me away. The colors, the lines, the subjects, the details!

You can look at her extensive collection of artwork on her flickr.
She also has original art for sale on her website (It goes quick, though. I plan to check back often).
