I'm Emily & this is my personal inspiration blog. I'm an English teacher living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I like owls, patterns, typography, thrift shops, writing on post-its, making lists (that never get completed), reading in bed, taking pictures of my cat Atlas, & living my life as fully as possible on a daily basis. Beautifully Designed Wallpaper by Dan Funderburgh

The wallpaper designed by Brooklyn-based artist Dan Funderburgh really caught my eye this evening. I like how he combines common objects (fire hydrant, scissors, bicycle tires) with delicate, decorative details. I feel as though I could look at them on a dozen separate occassions & find something that I hadn’t see before. Very nice, indeed!

The Italic Poster

I have a brand new banner & (somewhat) new layout for the blog. The banner was made by a good friend of mine. He’s quite good, don’t you think? It fits my personality quite well. Besides, who doesn’t love clouds? I mean, c’mon. They’re the essence of cute.

So, before I call it a night, I simply had to share this brilliant poster by graphic designer Eivind Søreng Molvær. Really, I don’t think any explanation is necessary. You know how I love to italicize for emphasis. If you’re interested, he’s selling them in a signed limited edition of 100 right here for £35.

Doing a little maintenance on the blog.

I just wanted to let you know that for the next few hours, I’ll be doing a little bit of maintenance & making some design changes to the blog. So if things look a bit on the wonky side, just ignore it! Hopefully things will be up & running as usual shortly. Thanks so much!

XO,
Emily Abigail

Inspiring Interiors: Bright & airy.

There is something so cheerful about being in a room that feels bright & airy. Coming home to any of the rooms pictured above would make even the gloomiest of days a bit easier to swallow!

Installation Art by Igor Eskinja

If you love minimalism & white space, you will most assuredly enjoy the installation pieces by Igor Eskinja. I am typically not a lover of abstract pieces, but I find that his work is extremely aesthetically pleasing & realistic enough for me to be able to decipher some sense of meaning & form.

Also, according to designboom, his installations are typically thrown out after the show is over. I have no idea if this is typical for an installation such as this. But, in a throw-away culture such as ours today, it’s interesting to see that it is creeping into the artistic realm as well.

Beautiful stop-motion video by Oren Lavie

I am in love with this video for Oren Lavie‘s song “Her Morning Elegance”.
This is stop motion at its best. In my opinion.
