Inspiring finds: Holiday Edition.

Here is a little round-up of inspiring pictures with a little holiday twist!

I love, love, love it when people get creative with their holiday decorating. I especially love when they veer away from the “classic” bright red/green combo & put their own creative twist on it.

Twinkle lights never, ever fail to put me in the holiday spirit! My apartment is currently decked out with enough twinkle lights to make it feel like daytime in the middle of the night. And, that’s just the way I like it!

Not only is there no snow in my neck of the woods, it’s unseasonable warm (60 degrees on December 21st!?). So, at the moment, I’m forced to look wistfully at these beautiful winter wonderland photographs & hope for my own taste of it before the end of winter.

What gets you into the holiday spirit?

Elijah’s nursery.

I am breaking my blog silence to share with you some photographs of my sweet nephew Eli’s nursery. My sister did such a great job making it an inviting space! I especially love the shelf display with the “A” to “Z” bookends! So inspiring & whimsical.

Pumpkin everything!

4. Cute pumpkin cupcake;  5. Oval shaped Flowers Print / Orange / Yellow;  6. Erika Persimmon Duvet Cover }

Fun fact: I’m obsessed with everything pumpkin! Seriously, you guys. October is one of my favorite months (in part) because I can unabashedly express my adoration for the color, flavor, scent and any/everything related to pumpkins! With that being said, I’ve decided to hand-picked a few of my favorite pumpkin-related items to share with you. I am especially fond of the owl pumpkin. He/she may be making an appearance in my home sometime soon.

Do you have any obsessions that come along with a particular month or season? Are you as obsessed with pumpkin as I am?

Currently loving vintage portrait oil paintings.

(sfgirlbybay.com)

I’m absolutely obsessing over vintage portrait oil paintings at the moment. I think there is something so mysterious & beautiful about them. I bet they each have such amazing, unique stories behind them. If I had the funds, I would put them on every single wall in my home.

Inspiring Interiors: Spring 2011 Edition.

It’s been very rainy here in Cincinnati, but that hasn’t kept me from feeling inspired! I’ve also been feeling especially inspired by interior design lately because Kevin & I have been looking at houses to (possibly maybe) buy in the (near or distant) future. The thought of owning my own house opens up a world of decorating ideas. No more white walls or ugly vertical blinds? That would be a dream come true. So, here are a few of the latest interior images I’ve collected via my Pinterest account. These especially remind me of spring! What do you think? What’s making you feel inspired lately?

Inspiring Interiors: Clean & Airy.

{Camilla Engman}

I’m beginning the slow & painful (in my opinion) process of packing up all my worldly possessions & moving into a new apartment. My new place is lovely, but there is always the stresses of making a new apartment feel like home. I’ve been rather obsessed with searching for inspiring interiors over the past few weeks. After compiling these images, I think I’m drawn to clean, airy, & light-filled rooms.

{this is glamorous}

I’m a sucker for a bed with crumpled sheets. They just look so inviting!

I like the faded blue curtains, wire chair, & little cluster of frames in this one.

Really, does this photograph even need an explanation as to why its amazing? I think not.

The bookshelves, the ladder, the table. Oh my…!

Also, I am thinking of starting a new feature every Tuesday, where I feature interiors that I find inspiring each week!
Share your interior inspirations with me, por favor!

Chalk it up!

I’ve been wanting a cute vintage chalkboard to put in my kitchen for a while now. I could write sweet messages on it to the boy or things I need to get from the grocery store or little “to do” reminders; the possibilities are endless! Naturally, the first place I decided to look was the ever-faithful Etsy.

After browsing for a bit, I stumbled upon Mary Kate McDevitt’s Etsy shop & let out a gasp of delight. It’s exactly what I’ve been in the market for! My only problem? Choosing my favorite, of course!

I’ve got the home office blues.

home office.

I admit, my “office” at the moment is pretty darn pathetic. I would give anything to live in a two-bedroom apartment & have an entire room dedicated to an office/creative space. However, at the moment I must be satisfied with it being nestled into a corner of my already cramped bedroom. It consists of what you see in the picture above; a small rickety desk that I’ve haphazardly painted white, a filing cabinet filled with unorganized “semi-important” documents as well as other odds & ends I had no other place for, & a small bookshelf that houses a few books as well as my printer. If I could have any type of office I wanted, I would use the photos below for inspiration.

What about you? Care to share your creative spaces? I’d love to see them!

Beautifully Designed Wallpaper by Dan Funderburgh

The wallpaper designed by Brooklyn-based artist Dan Funderburgh really caught my eye this evening. I like how he combines common objects (fire hydrant, scissors, bicycle tires) with delicate, decorative details. I feel as though I could look at them on a dozen separate occassions & find something that I hadn’t see before. Very nice, indeed!

Inspiring Interiors: Bright & airy.

There is something so cheerful about being in a room that feels bright & airy. Coming home to any of the rooms pictured above would make even the gloomiest of days a bit easier to swallow!
