Yes, folks, it’s that time of year again. The time where I pretend as though I have all the money in the world and can truly spoil myself rotten on my birthday. Count Me Indie Dress | $49.99

Triangle Day Bag | $65

Reclaimed wood wall clock | $25

Penguin Classics Hardcover Collection |$239.95

Petite Buttons Necklace | $39

Yum! Gourmet Cupcakes.

I literally stumbled upon Yum! Cupcakes today while I was out running some errands & I knew I had to stop in for a cupcake. I mean, how can you pass up such an adorable looking place? So, in the summer spirit of exploring new places, I promptly turned my car around, parked, & went inside.

I am so glad that I did! I was a little too shy to take any pictures inside, but it was such a cute place. The friendly woman at the counter explained all the different flavors, but I already eyed out my perfect cupcake. It was one of their special flavors for the day– a Red Velvet Cupcake with a candy raspberry lovingly placed on top. UM. YES, PLEASE. The woman told me that, if I wasn’t going to eat it right away, I should refrigerate it. I smiled & said okay. Little did she know, it wouldn’t even make it out of their parking lot! Unfortunately, it looks a little messy in the picture above because I accidentally flipped the box upside down before opening it. Silly me. But, let me assure you, it was still absolutely DELICIOUS. Check out their website for all their delightful creations. It’s definitely worth of stop if you’re in the Cincinnati area! They’re also only $2 which (although I’m no cupcake expect) I think is pretty fairly priced.

When was the last time you were surprised by a hidden gem in your own city? Isn’t is just the best?

My Summer Uniform 2012

My Summer Style 2012

I have been wearing basically an alternating version of this outfit all summer. Stripe t-shirts & tank tops have always been a staple of my wardrobe. I just can’t get enough! A pair of basic flat sandals, my favorite tote bag, & a cute necklace seem to polish off any outfit! I’m also loving all the colorful shorts there are this season. I’ve never been one to be afraid of color. I’m glad everyone else is finally catching on!  What is your summer uniform?

Fun prints by Sandra Juto.

I’ve blogged about Sandra Juto‘s work in the past, so it’s no secret that I think she is an incredibly talented artist. These prints that are on sale in her shop right now have me swooning all over again! They are fun, colorful, & full of wonderful little details. They’d be a nice addition to any art collection!

Autumn dresses!

The chill is in the air & fall is officially here! It’s given me the craving for dresses that can be matched with a cozy cardigan, colorful tights & some boots. I found these lovelies on Ruche‘s website. I am considering buying at least a few of them!

What are you excited to wear this fall?

Book Review: About a Village

About a month ago, I had the absolute pleasure of receiving a copy of the most charming photography book called About a Village. It’s a stunning photographic study by acclaimed fashion photographer Eamonn J. McCabe of a real English village called Firle. The images, taken over the course of a year, are rustic without seeming quaint, and offer a wide pallet of inspiration. I’ve had it sitting on my coffee table in the living room & had several people over who looked through it & commented on how lovely it was. I photographed a few of my favorites for you, but they don’t do the pictures justice. You can also find a preview of the book online here

The perfect summer shirt.

I am really loving these simple button-up short sleeve & long-sleeve shirts from Bridge & Burn. I’m a button-up lover. These look lovely & also very well made. The perfect summer shirt to throw on & head out to explore! I’ll take one of each.

Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway!

I am so excited to share with you lovelies my VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY here on EmilyAbigail! I’m even more excited because this giveaway is sweet. The generous folks at Shabby Apple have given me the opportunity to choose one of their gorgeous vintage-inspired women’s dresses to give away to one of you lucky, lucky readers.

Choosing just one dress was an exceedingly difficult task because there are so many amazing dresses to choose from. Shabby Apple has every single shape, size, & color that you could imagine! I love this boutique especially because of the fact that they are very body conscious & willing to actually LISTEN to their buyer’s feedback & make timely changes according to said feedback. How many companies actually do that these days? I love this quote from their website:

“Every woman deserves to feel beautiful in a dress, but not all of us look like runway models. Shabby Apple celebrates the short legs, curvy hips, straight waists, & flat chests in all of us.”

So, after much wistful browsing, I  decided on a dress called “Happy Talk”. It’s such a darling  little thing, don’t you think? I love its delicate yellow color & the detailing on the shoulder. I think it has a nice spring-summer vibe to it & that it would flatter many different body types! Perfect. This contest will be open for ONE WEEK. The deadline for entries is Sunday, April 16 at 12:00 pm.

Luckily, ShabbyApple is willing to offer you 10% off any of their apparel with this coupon code made especially for EmilyAbigail.com readers. Just type in emilyabigail10off into the coupon code box. So, really, we all win!

Spring is in the air!

Yesterday kicked off a week of Spring Break for myself! I am so excited. It couldn’t have come at a better time. Kevin & I booked a little rustic (i.e. cheap) cabin at Red River Gorge for a few days this coming week. I can’t wait to hike & make fires & watch my puppy explore the wilderness & generally escape the hustle & bustle of city-dwelling life. Spring is so inspiring to me. It’s like nature is waking up & stretching from a long much-needed nap. Here are a few inspiring spring-related images to get you excited about the upcoming season– as if you weren’t already!

I like this dress because it’s sweet & functional & screams “Spring!”

This is what I plan on doing while camping at the Gorge. {via tumblr}

I’m loving these gorgeous pillows made out of old sweaters.

Spring reminds me of riding bikes & falling in love. (via pinterest)

Love these bookmarks!

I love every single one of these bookmarks! They are just perfect. I especially like the library card book mark (second from the left). It’s great for someone who likes to share their books with others. Now, here’s a cute way to keep track of  who is borrowing what! Buy them here! (found via teachingliteracy)
